Always drink about six to eight glasses of water a day. If you can do more, good for you. The water works by flushing out the toxins present in your body. It also keeps your body well hydrated.

Be careful about the quantity of juice and other types of sugary foods that you drink. You can choose to take water instead.

When you buy foods, always look at the nutrition label. Do not always believe the can labels which read “low carbs”. Some have “low sugar” written all over them. Check to be sure of how many calories you are taking into your body.

As on any diet, remember to keep up your intake of fruits and vegetables. About five servings of fruit and vegetables are enough to keep healthy. The fruits and vegetables have important vitamins, fibers and antioxidants to maintain a healthy body.

When you buy fruits and vegetables, always strive to get the ones that are fresh and have not been stored for long periods of time. The packaged and processed foods always have a higher sodium and fat content. Try as much as possible to avoid packaged foods.

Being on a diet does not mean that you cannot eat the foods that you like. If you love cake and candy, go ahead, indulge yourself every once in a while. As long as you watch your calorie intake.
