How to lose weight after pregnancy

During pregnancy, 99% of women gain weight. Besides the weight of the child and the amniotic fluid the body stores fat for safety reasons as well. And this is absolutely normal. During pregnancy the organism has to be much more immune towards diseases and in the same time it has to nourish the baby every moment, this causes the body to accumulate weight.
Unfortunately after birth giving this reserve doesn’t go away. There’s no need for it any longer and women would like to lose weight fast, as fast as they can. They tend to forget that they gained that weight in nine months and there’s no way it’s going to disappear in a shorter period of time. You need to be very careful with exercise and losing weight.

The baby can be born in two ways: by normal birth or by cesarean. There is a big difference between the two and the way they influence weight. In the case of a normal birth the birth canal will be injured and it will need time to heal. It is advisable to start exercising only after 4-5 weeks until all injuries have healed. You may start with a light walk then continue with a careful jog or aerobic. However you may start to work out more intensively after 3 months. Though dieting isn’t advisable in this period, you still need to decrease the amount of fat and sugar and increase the amount of foods that are high in fiber.
After a caesarean the healing period is longer. Very careful exercising can begin after 14-15 weeks.
A few thoughts need to be mentioned about nursing as well. After giving birth, a drastic diet is strictly forbidden! This due to the fact that during a diet all the toxic substances stored in the body get disengaged and end up in the breast milk. It is also advisable to put weight loss supplements aside for a while. So, do not worries about looking a bit heavier after giving birth, imagine that you have just given life to a living, breathing human being? Enjoy spending time with your “creation” and that will make you less stressed, this way you’ll be in the right state of mind to keep to your diet.

    Some women, like my sister in law engage an experienced masseur (after pregnancy) to massage certain part of her body after she has given birth. Think she did check with her gynae before engaging the masseur ( dealing with pregnancy women). Also by taking care of the new born day day & night over the next 6 month tog with breastfedding made her lose weight naturally!
